Was kann NASCAR verbessern?

Tja, Finch hätte auch eine Idee, was man verbessern könnte. Die Preisgeldverteilung ist im Grunde unfair. Ein Team, das im Bereich der P25-P35 durchfährt, verdient unverhältnismäßig weniger als diese 5-Runden-Dreher. OK, Finch hat in dieser Saison auch nicht viel Runden gemacht, weil der Kurt sein Auto regelmässig geschrottet hat, aber Recht hat er trotzdem. Selbsverständlich würde es die Frage aufwerfen, ob die S+Parker dann überhaupt melden, wenn es weniger zu verdienen gibt. Andernseits - wenn nach nicht mal enem Fünftel des Rennens schon 5-7 Autos auf der Strecke fehlen, dann müssen sie eigentlich auch gar nicht starten. Es wäre kein Verlust - höchstens, dass Typen wie Nemechek nicht mehr dabei wären.

Finch says start-and-park teams make too much: Team owner James Finch hopes his #51-Phoenix Racing car remains on the track in 2013, but he'd like a little help from NASCAR to do it. Finch, who is losing driver Kurt Busch to Furniture Row Racing, wants to race for more money, and he isn't asking NASCAR and the tracks to spend more-just pay less to teams that start a race and park early. With typically five to seven Sprint Cup teams parking their cars early each week, Finch believes teams that finish in the top 35 should earn significantly more money than those that park early and finish in the back of pack. "I'm trying to get NASCAR to move some of the money up that the start-and-park guys are getting so we can race (for it) from 35th to 25th," Finch said Friday at Talladega Superspeedway. "I'm getting (as little as) $2,000 more to run 500 miles than they do to play. Move it up and if they want it, let them race or it. & That's not racing." Finch, whose team is 27th in the owner standings, so far doesn't have sponsorship for 2013. Because NASCAR is switching to a new body style for 2013, Finch said he will finish out 2012 to best use his inventory of cars. "What am I going to do with these cars?" Finch said. Das Problem sind die TV Verträge in denen halt nunmal 43 Teams festgeschrieben sind. Fehlen welche, wird es für NASCAR teurer, als wenn sie die S&P Affen bezahlen.

Aber NASCAR fängt schon mal mit Änderungen beim Qualifiying Format und den Tests an:

--The top 35 rule, in existence since 2005, will be eliminated. This rule was in place to ensure teams in the top 35 in car owner points (and their sponsors) would be in the race in an era when 50 or more cars were attempting to qualify for races.
--The top 36 positions will be set by qualifying speed with the remaining spots set by provisionals, including a champion's provisional. Provisionals are based on car owner points rankings.
--A random draw will set the qualifying order. The past two seasons, the order was determined by speeds in the first practice session.
--Provisionals for the first three races next year will be based on the final car owner points standings this year instead of the first five races as in previous years.
--Each organization can test at four tracks of its choosing next season where NASCAR competes, the first time teams can do so since 2008. The series' sanctioning body banned testing in 2009, and since then teams could not test at tracks where NASCAR held races, but they could test on other tracks.

Ein paar Competion-Updates die heute rausgegeben wurden:
- max. 40 Autos im Nationwide-Feld
- die Top 36 im Qualifying werden nach Speeds vergeben. Die nächsten 6 bzw. 7 Plätze werden an die bestplatzierten in den Owners Points vergeben, die noch über Speed drin sind. Die Top-35-Regel ist damit Geschichte.
- die Startreihenfolge für das Qualifying wird künftig wieder ausgelost
- 4 Tests pro Team (Organisation) auf offiziellen NASCAR-Strecken sind erlaubt

Es gibt Spekulationen, dass die Trucks im nächsten Jahr auf dem Eldorado Speedway fahren. Der wird aber nicht asphaltiert! Soll also ein Dirt Track Rennen sein, schreibt der Charlotte Observer. Offenbar verzichtet die NASCAR auch auf die Installation einer Safer Barrier.

Die Nationwide Series fährt 2013 in Mid-Ohio statt in Montreal.

Schade um Montreal . Allerdings hat die strecke genau wie der nürnburgring bei uns - Wirtschaftliche Probleme.

Die Strecke ist gar nicht so schlecht, vergleichbar mit Watkins Glen. 2 Vollgas Passagen, dazu 2-3 etwas schnellere Kurven und 2-3 langsame Kurven. Bin ich schon öfter in iRacing gefahren.

Sollte das wirklich mit dem Dirt Track kommen bei den Trucks, frage ich mich was das soll. Da sind die Trucks doch gar nicht für geschaffen, daß ist doch eher was für die Late Models.

What you're seeing up here today are some changes to the look of the car, and this comes about from a working relationship with the race teams. We know that we needed to offer them some additional space, some additional things for sponsors in this day and age, so you're going to see some different areas where the sponsor will be able to put their logo, particularly on the roof that has not happened in the past.
One of the other additions that we've looked at that we're proud of, especially as we look to younger drivers coming up in the series is the driver's last name on the windshield. So starting in Daytona you'll see that as an addition to every car, as we said, into the 2013 season.
